Hi,

I have a monitoring host which is monitoring multiple number of hosts. But, the intermittent issue lies for a particular host.

Normally check runs fine for this host but sometimes, this generates the following error:

CHECK_NRPE: Error - Could not complete SSL handshake.
=====

When I do run a check_nrpe, it works fine:

Using nrpe via xinetd and the IP of the monitoring server is mentioned in allowed_host in /etc/xinet.d/nrpe. Moreover, I am not using any kind of SSL auth on the checks.

The log doesn't say much about this except the same repeatative error.

I have tried re-installing nrpe on the client but the thing is same. No change in effect still.....

Any help regarding this will be very useful.

Have you tried different versions of the checkuptime plugin, and tested to see which ones react better?

The issue is, it happens for all the checks, not only uptime

And you have tried another version of NRPE like 2.14:http://exchange.nagios.org/directory...ecutor/details

Also try playing with –t (timeout) option in your nrpe.cfg with certain plugins and see how they react. You might find more stability with a plugin if it has more time to react.
