NIS Slave server configuration question

I have an NIS server running and wish to configure a slave server as well. I would like the slave server to be at a different site. Both sites are connected by a VPN tunnel.

Is it possible for the master NIS server to update it's maps to the slave NIS server if they are on different networks?

I have successfully configured a NIS client to authenticate with the master NIS server over the VPN.

Thanks

As long as you have a network connection between the two, it should work fine.

Yes. I have them connected via VPN so they can see each other with no problems.

Thanks
