I have got a used HP 300GB SAS 2.5 disk for my dell poweredge server installed as hot swapable drive. I tried fdisk -l and the 300GB disk is not listed anywhere. I am running centos 6.9, tried googling for hours i cant gind an answer.
Try (from this): echo "- - -" > /sys/class/scsi_host/host?/scan
(partprobe also come to mind, but I don't think it's the answer, just a web-search word to try; if not the above echo, some obscure fight with udev maybe, assuming the driver is present, and not disabled by bios!)
