Nestat and Telnet


Why does telnet.socket show up as 1/systemd when executing

netstat -tunalp | grep -i listen

systemctl status telnet.socket
.. shows active (listening)

I would expect to see some kind of reference to telnet in the right most column of the netstat output.

netstat queries, not listens?

AFAIK systemd works like (x)inetd here. It listens to telnet port until someone makes a connection, then it starts the real telnet daemon and passes the socket descriptor to its process.
