Need san simulator
Hi,
I want to study and understand, storage lun detection and configuration on a linux server. Can someone suggest me a san simulator for the same ? |
I think you can download an appliance image for free from EMC. You'll just need to sign up for an account.

netapp simulator 7.3.you can install on rhel then play with it
|
A friend suggested me openfiler. Any idea what is it and how is it?
|
openfiler is customized Linux distro which support NAS and iSCSI
means it uses NFS, samba and iSCSI target. so at all this is a linux distro and it works like linux it is not exact SAN. if you want to give yourself a start to understanding things on linux, lun with iSCSI and NAS specially on linux side than it is good but working on SAN is different. |
o ya openfiler is also good one, but if you want to understand the storage concept in production environment then you can use netapp simulator 7.3
openfiler is configure easily & can play with your R&D |
I got a installer named

SANs are strange beasts, but SAN administrators tend to make them out to be more strange than they need to be. I agree that some sort of tutorial based simulator is needed. It took me ages to pick up on things in the SAN world to get to the point where I could manage one. |
