Need distribution info for VMware (webserver purpose)

Hi,

I need a information. Actually I want to know as a vmware which Linux distribution is good for web server work. I just want to run Apache, PHP, MySQL and other some web utility, thats it. Nothing else. I tried with CentOS5 with minimal package installation but the VM size was around 2GB. Is there any other distribution with minimal package installation for webserver which can run on Vmware server?

Waiting for your good reply. Thanks

CentOS is good. You can probably minimalize it even more if you really wanted to. Just select individual packages manually during the install instead of picking the Software Groups that might install packages you don't necessarily need.

Really though, install and use what you're most familiar with. Most modern distributions are going to be around 2GB or more. You can probably get rid of a good chunk of size by eliminating most X Applications and Gnome and KDE. Most servers that are just Apache, PHP and MySQL don't even need X installed or running.

Yah I already did that, removing X application and other unnecessary packages. But can you give me some sample VM link to compare with mine, if u have any.

Have a good day!
