Nagios configuration

Hi All,

I would like to know information about data processing steps in nagios server.
1.In /usr/local/nagios/etc/objects directory we can configure our client systems(windows or linux) which are going to monitor. In this folder say for example "localhost.cfg" configuration file we can see for monitoring ssh service "check_command is check_ssh" and for monitoring system load "check_command is load check_local_load"
but when i am trying to run this command(check_local_load) in command prompt i could not able to find out this commands in linux box. Is there any possibility to check this commands in linux box.
2. From where nagios process is taking the commands output and to where it is processing for further display in nagios GUI.If i want to customise my customised os services and process how to change this file.It will be greatful if i will get any document.

Thanks for advance.

Regards,
Mastan

1. They are the your "...../nagios/plugins" folder, see the "Nagios Plugins" section in the supplied documentation.
2. In the documentation look for "Passive Checks"

Hi Tentenths,

Thanks for your prompt reply .
I want to configure nagios core with my own scripts.Default configuration has been done like ping, http,Root partition,..so on...
But according to my requirement i have a script called cpumon.sh which will monitor the current cpu usage.
I gone through below link but could not find out respective folders(/usr/lib/nagios/plugins, /etc/nagios/private/resource.cfg) which they are mentioned in the provided site.
Could you please suggest me that how can i do it.

If you wish to run your own script you can do so as an SNMP extension, see your SNMP daemon on your linux boxes for details, or you can run it as a cron job on your servers and make use of NSCA daemon on your Nagios server and the corresponding "send" program on your remote hosts.

what linux os are you using? if you want to monitor using your own script best way is by using nrpe

good reference:

http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2008/06/...ing-nagios-30/

also if your using centos or ubuntu here are the correct paths to put your script, then you can put them on your nrpe.cfg

/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_disk -w 20% -c 10% -p / -centos/redhat
/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -w 20% -c 10% -p / -ubuntu/debian
