mythtv backend hard drive runs continuously?
 

Installed mythtv plus the rest of it. (It does not work - cannot connect to mysql server.)

The hd light on the front of the box is permanently on. Stop this with /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend stop

This should not happen should it? Any remedy?

Check the permissions on this file: nfslockfile.lock make sure it is read/write/executable.

Also check your mysql logfile for pointers to any remaining problems. The logfile is located in the /var/log/mysqld directory. You need root permissions to read that file.

(Incidentally fixed mythtv could not contact mysql by setting up the database manually - user: mythtv password: mythtv db name: mythtvsomethingorother.)
