I'm not sure if you just don't have access to the Internet but if you have only 20 days of Linux experience, you're setting yourself up for failure making this more difficult than they have to be. Installing MySQL is as easy as breathing if you have Internet:
Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install mysql-server
That will install MySQL and all it's dependancies as well so you can be up and running in now time. Then you can learn and configure your database(s).
If you don't have access to the Internet, then I recommend you find / download all the individual dependancy packages by hand:
Code:
sudo dpkg -i <pkg_name>
If you can download the files from MySQL, then you should be able to download the files from apt. Also when patches / updates come out for MySQL, since you're not installing it via apt-get, it will not auto update with your system. Just install it from the internet using 'apt-get' as shown above. It will save yourself time and frustration.
Post install, there's a script you can run to secure / configure MySQL as well. No idea if that's available if you install using the .deb file.
