MySQL Database Retrieval

Hi All,

I'm in dire need of help. I had an old Linux box die (it has multiple segmentation faults and won't boot). I was wondering if I could boot to a rescue CD and somehow recover the MySQL databases???

Thanks,

Possibly yes. MySql creates a subdirectory for each database that is created. So if you know the name of one of them, search for it and you will find all databases.
Boot from live CD, mount HD and locate databases. Next copy them to appropriate location (memory stick, over network).

PS On my slackware system, they're located in /var/lib/mysql.
