Unhappy MX Record Update !


Hi Guys

I need to change my domain MX record to point to a new mail server , is it a safe operation , and will the change propagate through all the dns servers or i will be receiving mail on the 2 ips the old mail server and the new one , if so how to overcome this issue.

According to my knowledge, it is a safe operation as long as you configured your record correctly. It will take some time for the changes to propagate, make sure you have $TTL to 10M or something low in order for the record to expire on that time. Also, make sure to change the serial and the expire in the SOA.
