Migrate older server to newer one with different hardware

Hi guys,
this is my 1st post.

I NEED your know-how! I NEED your help!

In our organization, we have a small debian-box, it's dedicated to solve some tasks such as SVN.
This box have a RAID 1 between two maxtor 250GB partitioned as follow:

/dev/md0 mounted on /
/dev/md1 mounted on /home
/dev/md2 mounted on /var
/dev/md3 mounted on /DATI

And more, there is a little HD that is 4GB, partitioned as follow:
/boot
/tmp
/var/log
Virtual memory

In the new machine i don't have any HD so I must migrate di existing from the older to newer server.

My question is: How I can transfer the entire server to newer one? Especially for the "/DATI" partition wich is the organization LIFE?

Of course, I MUST preserve the RAID!

Thanks in advance

Francesco.

If you are still in need of advice I can supply a few ideas. First, I think that the entire RAID hardware can be moved intact to the new server. Make sure that you have backups.

You can create a test system by adding a boot disk to the new server. There you can copy your operating system and get any problems resolved. There should only be a few trivial problems such as network card drivers, video drivers, and other peripheral stuff. Otherwise I don't see why you should have any problems.

Once you get the problems with the new server worked out you can translate those settings and drivers to the md0 virtual device.
