Mail server


Is this possible ?

I am thinking to set up a local mail server(in lan) which will access and store all mails of specified users, from an external mail server from WAN and users will able to access the mails from lan server...

Yes it is possible. Most of the companies having ODC's, will have the setup like this.

It is possible. You will need to set up a mail server on your lan. Postfix with Dovecot is a good choice. You will need an application that can pull the mail from the mail server on the wan and transfer it to the mail server on the lan. Getmail is a good choice.
