Mageia Linux 4 - Automatically Start VNC Server

I am trying to automatically start my VNC server. I made a script to start the server, which is x11vncserver. I can run the command:

Code:
x11vncserver &
...and the VNC server will start after about a minute or so. I have confirmed that you do not need to run this from the GUI for it to work on this version of Linux. Some you do, some you don't. So, how do I get this to start at bootup? I was trying to configure it to run as a service, and that was my first try, but I couldn't figure out how to do it in this new type of service runner thingy. Please tell me how to either run it this way, or the overall best way to run it at bootup. Thanks.

Back in the old days you would just copy your script into rc.local to accomplish that. This link describes how to do the same thing under systemd:

https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/que...-like-rclocal/

The above link deals with solving this problem on fedora, but it should be pretty much the same with Mageia. Remember, that rc.local and this systemd implementation will run that script as root.

There is an rc.local. However, even if I put things in it, it doesn't seem to work. I tried these commands, and they fail. I will simply switch back to Mandriva Linux 2010.1, and continue with it. I was having some problems, but not nearly this many. When Mageia Linux gets more programs, like Mandriva had, and works out some of it's bugs, I'll try it again.

As you've noticed, Mageia won't run rc.local just because it exists. You have to use the following command to tell it to run rc.local:

sudo systemctl enable rc-local.service
