Post LVM and Raid.

Hello Folks.
I have a server and Raid my HDDs to Raid 5 and I want to install Linux on it. Is LVM necessary?

Cheers.

Nope unless you want to resize partitions and add more disks/raid sets to those partitions

LVM on top of a RAID is very good for manipulating partition size and with your RAID 5 you will have good parity that will help with data retention. do keep in mind that if you are not running enough HDDs to form your RAID 5 with true parity and you lose a disk, just like any RAID setup you will lose the ENTIRE LVM.

Thank you so much for your reply.
I used CetOS and format my raid with Ext4 and ...
Can you show me a tool for recovering linux data? I guess "Testdisk" do it but can I find a tool like Diskinternal for Linux?

Cheers.
