Hi all.
I hope for your precious help.
Feel free to move the topic if I've inserted it in the wrong section.
To begin with, sorry for my english...
I'm trying to build a local virtual LAMP development server but I'm facing some problems.
I'm using VMware/VirtualBox in my Windows 7 host machine.
What I want to reach is
- linux guest VM with
- php
- mysql with remote management
- apache with virtual hosts configuration,
- samba shares (I'm a happy win user, so I'd prefer writing code there),
- ajenti panel,
- automatic local domain name resolution between host/guest so I haven't to map each domain name in my host machine
- (optional) web server accessible by any other device (I'm thinking at mobile devices for testing) connected to the local network.
Now, apart from the last optional (and maybe unrealizable) point, I've already created the rest but I have two problems.
Here what I've done
- installed ubuntu server 12.04 VM with a nat netowork setup and static ip
- installed ajenti
- installed apache/mysql/php
- installed dnsmasq
- installed samba
- added as the main dns server the static ip of the VM on my win 7 machine
All seems to work but
- when I create new files on the samba share from win, files ends up with wrong permissions (755 instead of 775). testparms on the smb.conf give me in fact 755 even if in the share config section I force 775.
- domain name resolution from the host machine works sometimes. At some point the server stops to receive dns queries (debugged with live inspect of the dnsmasq log file)
Are there another solutions for reaching my goals?
If not, any ideas about this weird beahvior?
Thanks for your time
