list of servers running on Linux


Can anyone give me the names of the world most popular servers running on Linux?

Do you mean "Which of the world's most popular servers are running Linux?" If so, then assuming "most popular servers" means servers used by most people over the Internet, the OS is seldom published (there's little reason to do so and some reason not to) but Google have stated that they are standardising on the ext4 file system which pretty much implies they are running Linux.

There are websites that will figure out which OS a website is running. I can't remember the name of the one I used however, although they mostly do uptime stats.

Indeed no such list, not one definitive one for sure, exists anywhere.

You might like the stats available at top500.org though, or from any number of other locations you can easily find using a search engine.
