linux updates/catalog/library

Hi

I just put a bunch of servers in a virtual env and plan to hook up a 3G wireless router to access the box remotely from home.

Due to the cost of mobile data what I dont want Linux doing is downloading patches and installing them. I would prefer to find out how to create a catalog from each machine and create a library, download files at home to a DVD/USB and direct each install to this common share next time I am on site.

I'm sure this is mainstream but wondered if there is some terminology I can use to google the requirement or some blog links or other info from you guys telling me how to get started with this.

Thanks in advance.

Kevin
