Linux server backup from VPS hosting providers


Hi
i have many Linux server but all are in cloud hosted provdiders

just wanted to know how can i do backup to those servers to my pc ?

what is the best method to backup and restore ??

That doesn't make sense, do you want to backup FROM those servers TO your PC, or FROM your PC TO those servers?

actually i need something like full backup of linux config , assue i have centos and i installed openvpn , bind , squid , ldap and so on

and assume that server had a problem or damaged

what i need is , i will have a clear os , and want to move old config to it , thats why im sking for backup and restore....


i hope this is clear

Hello Dr.X,

I don't think you can have a system snapshot unless your VPS running on a vmware esxi kind of thing.

If you want to backup your configuration there are few options. I have an ownCloud server running and I have it mounted to my server with webdav. I'm using some bash scripts to pack and move files to webdav everyday. This is working good so far, last week I had a server failure and my backups were up to date.

Or you can install webmin, it has backup-restore config files option. If you can give us some detail about what you actually need I think people can help you better.
