Linux Sendmail Configs using SMTP and Exchange

We're currently using Sendmail on our Linux box and it looks like it sends mail through port 25 using localhost settings in sendmail. I'm not seeing any reference in my configs to our Exchange system. Does Linux send email out through it's own SMTP or does it go through Exchange and I'm just not seeing the settings?

Thanks for your help understanding.

Hi,

Check the sendmail logs (usually /var/log/maillog) to see what happens when you send out an email

thanks.

I only needed to add a
mail.mycompany.com local.ip_adress_ofthe.exchange.server
line to my /etc/hosts file to make it work.

(I use dnsmasq)
