Linux Print Server

Hi everyone,

I've been looking for a way to setup a linux Print spool, so that when a user prints a document that document doesnt actually go to the printer but instead goes to a specified directory ie. /var/spool/. I need this also to be stored there untill its released by the sysadmin or someone with that authority to execute that job.

As it stands now it will be windows clients connecting to that server, so i will need to be using samba or something that will work with windows file and print shareing.

Any information that would point me in the right direction would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

I would create 2 identical printers and set one to HOLD ALL JOBS. have the users print to that printer.

You should then be able to use the CUPS interface to transfer a job from the held queue to the live print queue..

Just a thought.
