Linux Mail server school project

Hey guys,

first i am new and a little bit newbie with Linux :P and i am German, so sorry for my bad English

In our school we got server projects at the moment. My topic is "Mail Server". My Mail Server is already working on a Linux OpenSuse 10 PC.
The Server is configured and installed with "Postfix"+"Dovecot"+"Squirrelmail" and i am able to send E-Mails on the server to other system accounts. The problem is that in squirrelmail i only can login with my system accounts, but i want to login with a self created user from another PC. My question now: Is there a possibility to create "virtual" users for squirrelmail or in another way accounts to login at squirrelmail?

Thanks for your help!
thanks z4phire.

I am sorry if there is another post like this, but i am in pressure of time and i googled it up by the way. And i thought this would be a great help.

Take a look at http://www.howtoforge.com/virtual-us...l-debian-lenny

The link is intended for Debian systems, but you should be able to get an idea of how to proceed. I used to have a very similar setup and I recall using that guide as a reference. It requires that you have mysql installed, as that is where you'll be defining the accounts for Squirrelmail.

The dovecot wiki is also very helpful in understanding how to configure virtual users
