Linux hanged process intimation

Dear Friends,

Can anyone helped me out for getting any intimation on hanged process in linux i.e centos ansd ubuntu flavours.

I am currently using nagios for monitoring application processes. But it only intimates when a process is dead or killed.

I want to get intimation warning on hanged up process too.

If anybody helps me on this . I shall be thankful.

Thanks
Regards,
kamran

1. intimation; http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/intimation?s=t I can see wher eyou got that from, but actually we would say 'notification' in this case :)

2. The problem with a hung process is defining when its hung; its different for every program.
You'd need a specific test for a given program ie you need to define what hung means in this case and construct a specific test for it.

You can use a remote test, or use nrpe to run a local test, then send the result back to the nagios server.
