linux dns configuration

I am a home user. I don't have an internet connection. I use fedora 5. i like to configure dns on my pc for practice. please help me in details where and which file i have to configure. and how could i test that it works.

The DNS howto at the Linux Documentation Project hasn't been updated for a long time, but it's still useful as a learning guide for a small DNS site. I recommend having a look at it and posting any problems you have with it.

Also, without any internet connection, it will be impossible to test resolution of names except domains you define. That means you can't check if it can find the addresses of or, because it can't. If you set things up correctly, you'll be able to get/give addresses for things within your LAN, but nothing else.
