Linux child domain for Windows Parent domain

hi

Iam trying to explore whether can we use a linux server as a child domain controller under a windows 2008 server parent domain environment.
We are currently having Windows 2008 server as primary domain controller with one domain one forest.'
We have 5 branch offices and they are working in a workgroup environment.
Now we are exploring to have a domain in individual branches.
Can this be a linux box with a child domain created under our current windows domain? If yes any article reference can you give me so that we will explore the same..
What are the difficulities in it.. what are the features will / will not work in linux if it comes under a windows domain controller...

regards
Suriya

You may be able to setup those offices as separate domains but to my knowledge, you will not be able to add "Linux" systems as domain controllers within our Windows 2008 domain tree / forest. For any of this functionality, you have to look at Samba and there's plenty of documentation on what can be done with a Samba server acting as a domain controller.
