Your original thread was closed because it was a duplicate. I don't understand the rest of what you are saying.

You seem to have several posts, all of them concern apf and none of them are at all easy to understand. Moderators have been closing off posts where they obviously are cross-posts (repeated posts of essentially the same subject) as those are not allowed on this site. Please read the Linux Questions rules, if you are in any doubt about what is allowed and what is not allowed.

My suggestion is that you try to make it clear in exactly one thread what is the problem and preferably what you have tried and what happened when you tried it.
  • I don't know apf, but presumably it is some kind of front-end to iptables/netfilter (most things are), so it might help if you posted the rule set that it has generated.
  • I think you are saying that you have it installed but not configured. If this is true, is this because you have no idea how to configure it, or have you tried something and it didn't work (if this is true, please post the exact error message)?
  • When you write

it is very unclear to me what you mean. "I could not have started the process" Do you mean the process of installation or do you believe you could not start the ipf process when your computer starts up (why do you believe this? have you checked the running processes and did you bear in mind that what you are looking for is probably not called anything to do with apf? or do you just mean that it can't have happened because you don't know how to do it?) You also say "I suspect this is the reason." The reason for what??? You haven't said what is happening that you want to change!

Please help someone to help you as you are in danger of being much more trouble to help than anyone can cope with.

PS: and please do not start any new threads on this subject.
