LAMP set-up Includind TOMCAT + virtual-host

Hi Guys

This is my first time with Linux
I have been coping fine so far, but now stuck after trying to implement Tomcat into my server set-up to run a java app.

I have followed the following tutorial
http://www.mogilowski.net/lang/de-de...2-integration/

in combination with:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ration-429037/

Trying to set-up a virtual host. I am unable to get to my tomcat server and display a test page !
As virtualhost i have used the PC / servers IP. No idea if thats correct
(apache2, tomcat5.5 apt install) - Apache runs fine !

What am i doing wrong(it might be my settings for virtual host, or tomcat install / config or the URL i type in (the IP/test.jsp . . .
not am I only new to linux, also to a web server set-up only used to localhost windows set-ups so far, which i am trying to avoid, am happy with linux so far, just a little stuck atm

Therefore I am wondering if i should start all over with my set-up and how to remove apache etc. save and secure / clean.

Or if someone has a hint to my fix !

A good link for a apache + tomcat (mod_jk) tutorial would be greatly appreciated as well here !

Kind regards
Alex

well if you're not sure where the issue is you clearly need to work that much out first. assuming tomcat is running on port 8080 does it serve the content directly? Eliminate apache and you'll know if it's apache config at fault or not.

Note that whilst you're asking what you've done wrong you've provided us absolutely no configurations from your system whatsoever, so how we are meant to comment on it, i've no idea. You've not even actually said it doesn't work or described what does happen. Have you looked in the relevant log files in /var/log/httpd and /var/log/tomcat ?

@ACID

hey, i Have not placed the here, as i have just put the link of the tutorial here which holds all config changes I have made !

Apache runds (it works page is displayed)
And i am just not able to get tomcat running as described in the tutorial with virtualhost called vhost1 !

If you are able to check the tutorial, you can see all changes i have made !

I want to run tomcat within apache www folder, redirect all jsp pages into vhost1 folder (tomcat folder) of which i can not display anything ! Apche works, tomcat , implemented as in the tutorial, i am not able to display the test page.

But thx, I'll stop apache, and see if i can run tomcat on its own...

No, I can see the changes you *should* have made, not the changes you have made. Given that something is not working, you should really understand that saying "i did what this doc told me to" is in no way good enough.
