Killing a VNC session?

I have a Linux box that when I VNC onto it with <machine name>:1 I just get the wallpaper and the cursor. When I look at the physical machine it's sat at a login prompt. What's going on here? How can I kill the VNC session?

You want to kill it from the machine you ran it on? Or from the remote machine?

It'd be nice to be able to do it remotely but I have physical access too. I'd just like to be able to VNC onto it.

If you can ssh in to the server:
Code:
vncserver -kill :1
should kill a VNC server running as :1. Same as doing it locally really.
