Kickstart installation of RHEL6

Hi Guys,

I need to do a project on installing RHEL6 via kick start file in a single DVD. I have made the kick start file and it's ready with the basic parameters like keyboard type, language, firewall and SElinux disabled. How can i boot it in the server. Also please help me in the below steps,

I need to use LVM option for File systems except swap and /boot, how can i mention it in the file?
If there is a need to use NIS or LDAP where can i mention it in the file?

your replies much appreciated

Hari.

how can you boot what server? what DVD is this? kickstarts are generally used from a build server, not an install DVD (although it is possible...) so you'd have the media on a 2nd machine to install from. You need to explain in a lot more detail the exact scenario you're after, probably best to describe what you expect to happen, i.e. the user experience you want to create.

as for the other questions, you just need to read up on kickstart in general, it's all covered in standard docs. There are good ones on the centos website if you search for them.

Now i got stuck in a step as unable to read repository from metadata. I have attached the error screenshots pls help me if you can.

OK, well that first attachment has a very good and useful error message in it. So either your repository on disk has no repodata of or the path you are defining in the kickstart does not point to the right location.

Attached in the text format since there is no option to upload .cfg file. also it's renamed as ks_file from the original name ks.cfg
Attached Files
File Type: txt ks_file.txt (4.3 KB, 62 views)
