Keyboard and Mouse lost at X login screen when attached to a SAN (cent6.3 and RH 6.2)

I've now seen this with multiple systems.

1 HP dl370 G7 (CentOS 6.3 x86_64)
2 x supermicro servers (older) (Red Hat 6.2 x86_64)

This happened just recently. I was replacing some older linux systems, and this has me stumped.

Systems are pretty standard installs, using a qlogic qle2562 HBA. When they don't have the fiber attached, everything works fine. When I attach the fiber, the keyboard and mouse will work unitl the login screen. So I can get into bios, use f1 / f2 / f9 etc. But at login, nothing works.

I've tried connecting via KVM, USB, and PS2.

It appears that everything is working in the background, as I can SSH into the box and all the services appear to be up, running, and working.

Also, while tailing the /var/log/messages file, I plugged in a USB keyboard or mouse, I can see that the system recognizes them, but there is still no change when trying to use them.

But I need to figure how to get the keyboard and mouse to work on the X login, as I have some software on these systems that actually need the GUI to work correctly.

The current workaround is to boot the system, login, then plug in the fiber and mount the volumes. However, this is VERY hit and miss... especially as we have a LOT of luns that need to be seen.
