Kernel Editing

Hi All

i got some iptables material from the below link

http://iptables-tutorial.frozentux.n...ABOUTTHEAUTHOR

i read so many pages in that, i was repeated about kernel compiling
below is one small description.

the following options to be compiled statically to the kernel, or as modules. Without one or more of these, the script will become more or less flawed since parts of the script's required functionalities will be unusable. As you change the script you use, you could possibly need more options to be compiled into your kernel depending on what you want to use.
• CONFIG_NETFILTER
• CONFIG_IP_NF_CONNTRACK
• CONFIG_IP_NF_IPTABLES
• CONFIG_IP_NF_MATCH_LIMIT
• CONFIG_IP_NF_MATCH_STATE
• CONFIG_IP_NF_FILTER
• CONFIG_IP_NF_NAT
• CONFIG_IP_NF_TARGET_LOG

for setting up iptables do in need to modify any kernel parameters
if so where can i find above said.
can any suggest the stuff about configuring iptables and netfilter.

Thanks in advance

Please tell what your distro is; as, in most cases, they will have taken into account the possibility that you might choose to use a firewall, you probably already have everything that you need. (This may not be the case if this is your own custom kernel, from which you have eliminated 'bloat' or you are going through Linux From Scratch, for example.)
