Issues with booting after dd
We have an original VM running on citrix xen; our plan is to migrate this to "something else" (don't mind what at this point in time).
So far we've dd'd the drive to an image file; however I'm unable to boot the distribution. It gets to grub and with some minor editing I get "dracut fatal don't know how to handle..." Obviously I've changed the boot partition from an lvm device to a physical device (leaving as is causes the system to hang at boot). With citrix for some unusual reason the drives are called /dev/xvda, xvdb etc. I suspect this maybe related to the issues I'm facing - this and the system is unaware of the lvm volume. Any help is really appreciated with this one; I've asked on the citrix forums with no solution. OS is redhat 6.1. |
Sorted this. There was an issue with the lvm not being active upon boot and the console using hvroot. I changed the line and added rdshell and removed console=hvroot. Got into single user mode and fixed everything else (reconfigured lots of stuff).
