issue with setting up Raid 1

Hi,

I was wondering if I can get some help here. I have a machine that has got RAID 1 built already. Now it's about time to install ubuntu server 10.04 (32-bits) OS onto it.

My question is given the fact that I have built RAID 1 already, whether or not I still need to perform ubuntu software RAID during the course of installing the ubuntu.

If not, when coming to partitioning disks (during installation wizard), can i just do it like I normally do to a single HD?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm assuming that it's already a software RAID rather than a controller based real one. If that's the case and you are installing the OS from scratch then you would be best to break the RAID and reconfigure it as part of the OS install.

If it's a hardware RAID then the OS will see it as one large disk and treat it accordingly.
