Issue during VMWare Installation???

I installed ubuntu 7.10 and tried to intsall Vmware.It threw the error:
-------------
vjs@saturn:~$ sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-`uname -r`
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
linux-headers-2.6.22-14-generic is already the newest version.
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
build-essential: Depends: libc6-dev but it is not going to be installed or
libc-dev
Depends: g++ (>= 4:4.1.1) but 4:4.0.3-1 is to be installed
Depends: dpkg-dev (>= 1.13.5) but it is not going to be installed
g++: Depends: g++-4.0 (>= 4.0.3) but it is not installable
Depends: gcc-4.0 (>= 4.0.3) but it is not installable
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
vjs@saturn:~$

When I ran the script vmware-config.pl and select the option:
--------------------------------------------------------------:
None of the pre-built vmmon modules for VMware Server is suitable for your
running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmmon module for
your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)? [no]

(you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)
I'm a newbie but in this problem you have to type this command
in the terminal, first log in as root,

yum install gcc gdb
yum install gcc-c++
just try it..........

yum is yellow dog update manager and is generally for redhat style distros.

As you are using Ubuntu try:

sudo apt-get install libc6-dev
sudo apt-get install gcc
sudo apt-get install g++
sudo apt-get install dpkg-dev

Then retry the vmware install
