ISPConfig and Command time limit exceeded error on mail

Hi,

I am fairly new to linux so excuse if the solution is simple, but inherited a server with the following problem.

The server hosts mail for about 30 companies. Everything was working ok. But a few issues has started creeping up.

The server runs OpenSuse 11.1. Postfix handles the mail and it uses spamassassin and clamav for content filtering. It also has ISPConfig installed for a graphic interface to create mail domains, users, reset passwords etc.

The first issue is that passwords are being reset through the graphical interface and it states that the password was reset. But it then still doesn't work. I then log onto the server and manually reset the passwords under /var/mail/ with the passwd command. It then works correctly.

Second and more importantly clients recieve the following message intermittently on various of the hosted domains.

This is the mail system at host netmobile.netmobile.co.za.

I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.

For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster.

If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the attached returned message.

The mail system

<ginde.co.za_emil@netmobile.netmobile.co.za> (expanded from
<emil@ginde.co.za>): Command time limit exceeded: "/usr/bin/procmail -f-".
Command output: ERROR: Parse error at line 166: Unknown option
ArchiveMaxFiles. procmail: Timeout, terminating
"/home/admispconfig/ispconfig/tools/clamav/bin/clamassassin" procmail:
Rescue of unfiltered data succeeded

I hope this is enough information and that someone will be able to assist me.

Thanks in advance.

Jacque

Its a difficult one! May be the permission in ISPConfig setup might have changed and some of the application's commands are being rejected.

In Fedora you can tail -f /var/log/httpd/error.log and try to reset a password and watch the logs for signs of trouble.

On the second one, may be procmail is not able to process larger mails. What kind of mails are bouncing? Large (usually with attachments) or smaller ones????

I will try the suggestion to look at the log. thanks.

On the second issue the issue is not related to size as it happens on mail of various sizes. small and large.

The strange thing is that we have tried to delete the entire domain and then recreate it and the problem persists.
