ISO Sharing Server
Hi,
I Have a Dell Poweredge 2100 at home with 3 18.2GB SCSI Hard Drives installed. I have the hard drives on RAID0 Mode running on Ubuntu Server 6.10 What i want to happen is to somehow mount the ISO images on the server and them share them out onto a windows network using Samba. The tricky part is that i have a 2003 Server Domain Controller. What i would like to do is to tie the samba server to the domain controller so the samba server authenticates the user against the domain controwller when they access the samba server. The general Idea is that i can then map the shared folders onto my Windows XP machines so when i play games such as BF2 it will automatically look to the server. This is so i can keep the disks safe as i must be honest i am not always careful with them. Many Thanks BlackFish :Pengy: |
It sounds like you could use win-bind to authenticate the users on the Linux server using the Domain Controller.

Linux Journal had an article on this a couple years ago.. let me see if I can find it..
Here you go: Build a Virtual CD-ROM Jukebox http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/5639 The article is from 2002, but I'm sure the information will still help, This setup does pretty much exactly what you are asking to do. |
Thanks Guys, I'll try this on Thursday and let you know how it goes
Many Thanks, BlackFish |
