Is there any real disadvantage to not use a single box for all my server requirements
In order to move away from a hacked together blob of laptops and raspi and hdd enclosures I've recently built a computer specifically for use as a primary home server. It's a good little setup and cost a pretty penny (sitting at around $1300 after accounting for its harddrives), and I wanted to see if there was any reason to not use it for what I'm intending. As it stands, once I have it all configured, it'll be running the following:
- znc
- deluged
- mpd
- samba (two shares on a 4-disk RAID 10)
- plex media server (does a lot of transcoding on the fly)
- openVPN (possibly, haven't totally settled on this one because I've never set up openvpn before)
Is there any reason to not run all this at once on a single server?
This is for home use, not something that'll be used by anyone but me and possibly one or two people that I may or may not grant access to.
