Installing oci8 extension in RHEL 5

I have a freshly installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 box which will mainly function as a LAOP (Linux-Apache-Oracle-PHP). During installation, I made sure I checked all php options. Even then, I see that the oci8 is not installed.

How do I install oci8? Do I have to remove the php package from RHEL5 and get the tarball archive from and compile it? Or can I add the oci8 extension without all these hassle?
