I edited the above /etc/default/lighttpd
when there was a line as
Code:
# Set to yes to start saned
RUN=no
then I was getting an error like this
Code:
lighttpd disabled; edit /etc/default/lighttpd
when I changed /etc/default/lighttpd
Code:
# Set to yes to start saned
RUN=yes
I get
Code:
/etc/init.d/lighttpd lighttpd start
Starting Lighttpd web server: /usr/local/sbin/lighttpd: invalid option -- 'a'
lighttpd/1.4.27-devel-2751 (Aug  6 2010 21:04:17) - a light and fast webserver
usage:
 -f <name>  filename of the config-file
 -m <name>  module directory (default: /usr/local/lib)
 -p print the parsed config-file in internal form, and exit
 -t test the config-file, and exit
 -D don't go to background (default: go to background)
 -v         show version
 -V         show compile-time features
 -h         show this help
Here is the /etc/init.d/lighttpd
which I am trying to start and stop.

I think
Code:
DAEMON_OPTS="-a $RUN_AS_USER"
is what it is complaining about.

Ohh ya right
I again made some change to /etc/init.d/lighttpd
added these two lines
Code:
. /lib/init/vars.sh

. /lib/lsb/init-functions
So the new script is now
Code:
/etc/init.d/lighttpd start
Starting Lighttpd web server: /usr/local/sbin/lighttpd: invalid option -- 'a'
lighttpd/1.4.27-devel-2751 (Aug  6 2010 21:04:17) - a light and fast webserver
usage:
 -f <name>  filename of the config-file
 -m <name>  module directory (default: /usr/local/lib)
 -p print the parsed config-file in internal form, and exit
 -t test the config-file, and exit
 -D don't go to background (default: go to background)
 -v         show version
 -V         show compile-time features
 -h         show this help

I think that you screwed somehow the script
Use the attachment after renaming it and making it executable
