INFO : task events/2:69 blocked for more than 120 seconds

Hi,

I'm using RHEL 6.3 running on VMWare vsphere and aproximatively every month there is this error message and application running above hang until I restart the server:

"echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message. INFO : task events/2:69 blocked for more than 120 seconds

Please help. Thanks

0) Did you research what this message suggests and what that means?
1) Did you investigate what task inside the VM client is blocking?

0) Yes, the "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message." I understand this one as this is a classic error but the next one "INFO : task events/2:69 blocked for more than 120 seconds", I've never seen it.
1) There is many servers running on the same OS here but never shown this kind of error.

So what's happens exactly and how to solve it?

No, I asked if you investigated what task inside this particular VM client is running very long and consuming so much resources.

Ah, it's an application pre-build with RHEL6.3 and I'm not really sure for the functionnalities. You mean that this error indicated that there is some process which over consumming ressources? In this case, increasing ressources may solve the issue?

That or it's stalling and keeping other processes from running.

Install any SAR and find out.
