IMAP GOOGLE for Citadel Groupware Server?

Hi, I am using the Citadel Groupware server for Emails, contacts, meetings... on a running distant server for small unit users.

I would like to know whether it could be done that the emails are directly using GOOGLE MAIL and not the one of Citadel. Like the emails could be got, fetched, over IMAP from Google Imap server services and integrated transparently into Citadel groupware server.

Possible?

Thanks

I wish you a nice day!

Citadel uses Dovecot for POP3(S) and IMAP(S). Gmail can be reached over POP3(S) and IMAP(S). Standardization and openness of mail-related protocols means unencumbered exchange of data is possible. So AFAIK the only things you need to test and ensure are the "integrate transparently" part and the fact that by syncing between IMAP servers you're bound to run into potentially wasteful and confusing duplication of emails and conversations.

Unfortunately I'm afraid unSpawn is mistaken. Citadel does not use Dovecot. It contains its own message store.

WebCit is only capable of accessing a Citadel server. It speaks Citadel protocol, not POP/IMAP/SMTP.

However if what you really want to do is pull Google mail into a Citadel environment, you can configure it to pull mail from your Google account via POP3.

Yes, you are right, Webcit doesn't speak std protocols. But while I was wrong about the backend communication part pushing / pulling in Gmail shoule still be possible as Citadel has SMTP, POP, and IMAP services built in.
