IBM server x3650 performance issue

Hi, is anyone successfully running linux other than suse or redhat on an x3650 (7979) system with sata drives? I have been attempting this for several days and the unit is sloooow, hdparm of 6mb etc. No apparent support from ibm - just wondering if I have a bad box??
thanks for helping....

Hi,

i have several 3650 running RHEL without any kind of performance issue. We use them for Oracle database servers serving up to 300 users.

performance issues x3650

RHEL is a supported config - I assume the setup CD was used? My setup is Gentoo x86-64 - kernel takes 2.5 hrs to compile. On a dual 3g xeon... 5160 cpus. IBM diags all pass no errors ... ???
