Unhappy HP servers MIB errors

Hello all,

I need to monitor HP servers with SNMP using Nagios

On this models
  • HP DL380 G8
  • HP DL380 G9

Searching the web i found

And the only one that works with snmp_check is 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.6.1.3.0 - System status

Quote:
/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_snmp -H 172.30.25.33 -C community_1 -p 161 -o 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.6.1.3.0
SNMP OK - 4 | iso.3.6.1.4.1.232.6.1.3.0=4

For rest
Quote:
/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_snmp -H 172.30.25.33 -C community_1 -p 161 -o .1.3.6.1.4.1.232.6.2.6.7.1.6.0
External command error: Error in packet
Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.
Failed object: iso.3.6.1.4.1.232.6.2.6.7.1.6.0
Seems that I need a proper MIB added to Nagios.
Most HP sites ask for user login, that i don't have

Anyone knows where I can find it? Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Just a hint, if possible, why not solve it with IPMI instead? You can monitor just about anything with it, and there's a plugin for that in nagios.

An HP login is free...why don't you just create one and download what you need?? Or call HP's support line and ask them? And not sure what you looked for, but for me putting "hp dl380 g8" into Google pulls up an HP site with a MIB set as one of the first hits, along with much other documentation.
