How to Run Apache!! as Root user!!


Hi all,

Is it possible to Run Appache as Root user!!! if yes means is it secure?? please for my web application i am looking this concept!!

Please Guide me guys!!

It is not. Whatever your applications problem is, running a web server as root account user is and will never be the solution. In other words here's a chance to state your real problem in detail.

running apache as root user is a horrible idea, it's like a company putting their main server rack wide open in the lobby of their office building and leaving them logged in, there is no security whatsoever. If someone manages to take control of your apache server they gain full control of the machine it's running on and i shouldn't have to tell you how bad that is.

perhaps it would be better if you told us what you are trying to accomplish and we can tell you how to do it WITHOUT running apache as root?

Please look at this thread guys..

for this problem i think like this. run my application as a root user..

Now the problem is serious , because of this issue nearly 150 tickets i received, my clients not able to write the zone file via application.
