look into "chkconfig"
This is the way that CentOS (fedora/RHEL) use to start/stop services at runtime

Example
Code:
 chkconfig --list

well "chkconfig--level httpd 3456 on" is a completely incorrect command for many reasons, no space after chkconfig, 3456 in the wrong place. using 6 as a runlevel number...

For apache and mysql, you can use chkconfig command
#chkconfig httpd on
#chkconfig mysqld on

But for tomcat u need to create init script and that in chkconfig.
This will help you to create init script for tomcat

Hello,

What parts of the above posts did you not understand? The answer (and some corrections to wrongly provided answers) has been posted multiple times.

Kind regards,
