how to monitor all webapplications

Hi all,

I have a doubt in monitoring all my web applications.

Actually we have about 20 web applications hosted through tomcat in our server.

How to monitor all those applications at a time, whether it is up or not . Do we have any options in operating system itself for monitoring using logs.

Because all those applications were accessed by clients and we should intimate the client first about outage in case of any problem in accessing our web application.

Is there any tool for monitoring web applications. You suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance,
Dinesh.

Hello,

There are several possibilities available on the web, both free and paying. You can choose for an external monitoring solution like Nagios or for example JMX (Java Management Extensions). Have a look at the following links:
Monitoring Tomcat with JMX
JavaMelody
Monitor Tomcat (paying)

Kind regards,

Eric
