How to install rhel through FTP
 

HI,

I want to install rhel through ftp.I browse through google and found some steps.But it doesn't worked me..

In the server i copied the packages i,e in /var/ftp/pub

In the client machine,i did the below steps

1.Liunx askmethod
2.intsallation type:FTP
3.hostname:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
directory:/var/ftp/pub

its not fetching the packages from the server.
AM i doing anything wrong ..

please help me friends ...

Once you're in installation mode and have set up the FTP server details switch to another terminal and see if Anaconda spits out any errors. Else try and access the FTP share using 'ftp' or 'curl' if it's available in the environment to find out if you can actually see repo data. If you're going to post errors please post exact ones. (BTW I don't know if you did but you shouldn't dump packages in /var/ftp/pub but a tree structure the installer understands like /var/ftp/pub/mirrors/redhat/i386/RedHat/.)

I'm doing in VMware.Is it possible to switch to terminal in VMware.

Try (w/o ALT) CTRL+Fn (n being between 1 and 6 usually).
