How to configure postfix to forward emails to a 2nd mail server on the LAN and then send to Gmail account.

I tried to find a similar answer but wasn't having luck. I assume some of the answers already given probably have hints of my solution inside them... But I need a little guidance.

I have 2 "servers" in my LAN. One does the brunt of the work. The second is primarily a backup server for long term storage. I want Server#1 to forward emails to Server#2 and Server#2 to forward mail to an external email account (Gmail).

I'm not really sure how to go about this. I've tried forwarding messages and they just disappear into the ether.

I have no problem looking deeper if someone could just breakdown what I need to look into or if there are any "gotchas" I need to look out for.

Thank you guys and gals in advance!

One step at a time

Not sure how to do what your asking but the Fist thing I would do would be to Setup Server#2 to send e-mail stright to Gmail
I've heard some people have problems going directly to Gmail or other big e-mail providers( due to spam filters?) I think you have to go from Server #2 to your local ISP SMTP Mail server and then they forward it on your behalf and Gmail will take it.

Once you know you can send it to Gmail direct then find out how to forward from one local server to the next(Sever#1 -> Server#2). In the end it should look like Server#1 -> Server#2 -> ISP -> Gmail. I've never tried this myself. Look up "how to send e-mail to gmail with postfix"
