How do I set up something like WSUS on Linux (Fedora specifically)?

Hi everyone,

My question probably has been asked and answered a million times (and is probably on Google a million times also), but here goes again.

What I'm doing is teaching a small Linux class. The computers won't have Internet capabilities, except maybe one of them. So I would like to make that into the local repository (or WSUS-equivalent server), and have the others point to it for installing and updating applications.

Specifically we'll be running Fedora 18 or 19, but if possible, I'd like to be able to update different distributions also (*buntu, Knoppix, etc).

My questions are: Is what I want possible (updating more than one distro)?
Is there a simple step-by-step tutorial for doing this online somewhere (either just for creating a Fedora repository, or hopefully for creating a multi-distro repository)?

Thanks, and have a great weekend.
Patrick.

Have you seen the following?
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/Mirroring
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Rsyncmirror

Edit: My apologies. I should expand and say that you can use tools like those above to create mirrors of the repositories for a given distribution but they will be a lot bigger than just the updates. Also, you can host a repository for updates for any distribution on any web server (even on Windows) but it won't be as easily managed by tools provided and will mean setting up a web site with the necessary packages.

with using fedora be aware that it DOSE NOT have support for ANY non-free non-GPL software
the install dvd dose NOT have Oracles JAVA1.7 , nor any support for any video and music ( except flac and ogg and alike)
NO mp3 , no .wmv , no .asf support
all that MUST be installed from third party repos NO internet
so
if you need any of that
your offline mirror of RPMFusion ,and Fedora-extras, fedora-updates
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...a-f19.html#yum
fedora main ( one of the mirrors)
http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/rel...19/Everything/
-- 64 bit --
http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/rel...4/os/Packages/
-- 32 bit and compatibility --
http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/rel...6/os/Packages/
fedora updates
http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/updates/19/

is going to need to be VERY large

and if you need JAVA 1.7
then you will also have to include Oracles java rpm's from
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...ads/index.html

if you need dvd movie play back ( libdvdcss)
that must be installed from a server located outside the US of A
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...l#mediaplayers
so that will need to be included on the off line repo

it is very hard to use fedora in a off line mode , it can be done . But it is going to be rather difficult to do .
