Ok, that looks good. This is configured to allow only localhost access to the service.

Now, what is the output of:

Ok, so it seems like you do not have xinetd running (or installed!). Check ps for xinetd or inetd. I assume you performed that test on the system running courierpassd.

This is the output of ps for xinetd

ps aux | grep xinetd
root 2972 0.0 0.0 2668 844 ? Ss 12:33 0:00 xinetd -stayalive -pidfile /var/run/xinetd.pid

And yeah I tried it on the same system running courierpassd

Did you restart xinetd after you enabled the courierpassd server ? If not, run: /etc/init.d/xinetd restart

You should have a listening agent on port 106, as I mentioned a number of posts back. If there isn't one, then xinetd has not started the service.

I did restart xinetd service as well but still the same error.
